More about Donations to Reboot

Reboot accepts many different types of later model computer equipment. A donated computer can be working or non-working, so long as it contains a Pentium III class processor or better. If you are not sure your system is in this category, please e-mail Gerry Rosenkrantz to confirm before you deliver your donation.

Working peripheral equipment, such as printers, keyboards, mice, and the like, makes good donations, too, but peripherals must be in good working condition. Working black and white inkjets, like the Hewlett Packard (HP) 500 series are in special demand, as they do not need expensive color ink.

CPCUG's Reboot can also use extra computer parts in good working order, unused inkjet or laser printer cartridges, as well as legally transferable software and software licenses. Reboot also needs computer speakers, power and printer cables, multi-gigabyte-sized hard drives, and later model memory (RAM).

However, Reboot does not accept:

  • CRT (tube-type) monitors unless accompanied by a donated computer or computer-compatible speaker set,
  • keyboards or mice without PS2 style or USB connectors. PS2 devices have a small, round connection plug, and USB presents a rectangular connector,
  • Apple or Macintosh equipment. The Washington Apple Pi user group (WAP), also located in Rockville, has a similar reclamation program. They can be reached at: Washington Apple Pi or 301-984-0300.
