Project Reboot
CPCUG's Computer Recycling Program
101 Fleet Street, Rockville, MD

Project Reboot accepts pre-arranged computer hardware and software donations at our workshop/storage facility in Rockville, MD, from individuals, companies and government agencies. There our volunteers (some experienced, some just learning) refurbish it after testing, repair and upgrades. Hardware with current operating system software is then donated at very low cost to non-profit, educational, religion-based, and charitable organizations. We help schools, senior centers, religious organizations and other groups that work with low and moderate income families, and other needy, local clients, see Qualifications. Usually the only charge to the receipient is a nominal fee to cover software licenses typically $10.00, see MAR Fee.

Reboot is Reorganizing for a New Location! Effective July 15, 2008 Reboot's hours will shift to Mondays 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Wednesdays 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Through September 14 we can still be reached at our old location, but call ahead as we'll have limited hours while doing the move.

Reboot plans to be moved by mid-September, 2008, to 2 Choke Cherry Lane, Rockville MD 20850. That is about a mile from our current location. Our current Fleet Street site will remain open with limited hours until the move is done . If you have time or other resources to contribute to the setup of our new site, please contact Gerry at the address shown below.

To donate computer hardware or software, to make a tax deductible donation, or volunteer to help Reboot, please contact Gerry Rosenkrantz or call the CPCUG Office at (301) 560-6442.

Project Reboot currently accepts Personal Computers in the Pentium II class or above (email or call us if you're not sure). It need not be in working order. Sorry, but from now on Reboot cannot accept tube-type (CRT) monitors unless each is accompanied by a computer or computer-compatible speaker set, for more information see Reboot Donation Details. Though Reboot does not recyle Apple computers, check out Washington Apple Pi.

You can also make a tax deductible cash donation directly to Project Reboot. We prefer PayPal. However, you do not need a PayPal account, you can donate in a safe and secure manner with a major credit card by clicking the PayPal logo below. The funds go DIRECTLY to Project Reboot to be used for printer ink cartridges, spare parts and other miscellaneous expenses related to recycling computers for those in need.

Project Reboot is usually open Mondays (2:00 PM to 6:00 PM) and Wednesdays (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM), unless those days are Federal or religious Holidays. Printable Directions.
